A very easy to make dish for holiday entertaining – you can prepare this the day before a party, then heat before your guests arrive.
1 ½ – 2 cups Bolognese Sauce, plus 1 can sliced mushrooms
8 oz dried Mostaccoli
1 cup shredded Italian blend cheese (Kraft makes a nice blend of Mozzarella and Parmesan. You can use soy Parmesan and/or mozzarella, if you prefer)
Prepare the Bolognese Sauce above, but add 1 small can cooked sliced mushrooms with the other ingredients and prepare as directed.
Prepare the pasta according to the package directions (Usually it requires 12 – 15 minutes boiling time for this type of pasta). Drain.
Place cooked pasta in an oven proof dish (I use individual baking dishes for an extra nice touch, but you can use a souffle dish, 9 x 9 baking pan or your favorite baking dish). If you are using individual oven dishes, divide the pasta evenly and ladle with 1/4 – ½ cup sauce – depending on your preference (I love lots of sauce, my husband likes a little on his pasta and extra on the side).
Top with 1/4 cup cheese.
Bake in the oven for approx. 15 – 20 minutes, until the cheese is light golden. If you are using individual baking dishes, be sure to place each one on a plate as the dishes will be very hot (and warn your guests!)
